Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked the President if he thought Homan should follow through.
“I would do it if I were Tom. I think it’s great. Gavin likes the publicity, but I think it would be a great thing. He’s done a terrible job,” Trump said.
The President is almost certainly being facetious here. It’s unlikely the administration is going to move on this even as Newsom is hoping to become some sort of pro-criminal illegal alien martyr for the cause. But the left will no doubt rage about Trump being an authoritarian and pretend they didn’t spend the previous eight years trying to put him in jail.

Trump added some serious commentary afterward regarding the Democrat governor’s complete and utter incompetence in running the state.
“Look, I like Gavin Newsom. He’s a nice guy, but he’s grossly incompetent, everybody knows,” added Trump. “All you have to do is look at the little railroad he’s building. It’s about 100 times overbudget.”
While Trump is seemingly making the comments in jest, Newsom took to social media to rage-tweet over the matter.
“The President of the United States just called for the arrest of a sitting Governor. This is a day I hoped I would never see in America,” he wrote.
“I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, this is a line we cannot cross as a nation — this is an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism.”
Wait until he hears about Joe Biden and his party actually arresting a former President. Over and over again.
