We’ve written about the failures of the America-hating kneeling U.S. women’s soccer team and the tantrum-throwing hammer thrower Gwen Berry. The best the soccer team could do at this point is try for a bronze.
But it should be clear. Those folks are the oddities. Most U.S. athletes are putting in all the time and effort to do what they can for the country.
So it’s nice to see an athlete who is genuinely thrilled to represent her country.
Here’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock, who just made history. She’s the first black American woman to win a gold medal in wrestling (and only the second American woman ever to win a gold medal in wrestling), winning in the freestyle light-heavyweight event.
America’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock won gold at Tokyo in wrestling:
“I love representing the US. I freakin love living there. I love it and I’m so happy I get to represent U.S.A!”

Wrapped in Old Glory, eyes shining, Mensah-Stock excitedly shared her feelings of faith and gratitude that “there is no cap, no limit to what I can do, and I’m excited to see what I have next.” She was then asked, “That American flag around your shoulders looks pretty good. How does that feel, to represent your country like this?” Her reply:
“It feels amazing! I love representing the US. I freaking love living there. I love it, and I’m so happy I get to represent U-S-A!”
