Joe Biden was busy this week, trying to spin inflation, the rising gas prices and the supply chain crisis.
In his remarks on Tuesday, what it basically broke down to is that itâs your fault, not his. The economy is bad because heâs made it so good â all those rising prices are on you.
âBecause of the strength of our economic recovery, American families have been able to buy more products. And â but guess what? Theyâre not going out to dinner and lunch, and going to local bars because of Covid. So what are they doing? Theyâre staying home and ordering online or buying product. Well, what more people with money buying product and less product to buy, what happens? The supply chainâs the reason. The answer is you guys, and Iâll get to that in a minute, but what happens? Prices go up,â the president said.
âPeople have a little more breathing room than they did last year, and thatâs a good thing. But it also means youâve got higher demand for goods at the same time weâre facing disruptions in the supplies to make those goods,â he continued. âThis is a recipe for delays and for higher prices. And people are feeling it. Theyâre feeling it.â
Then his description of the rising gas prices was something else.
Joe Biden on gas prices:

âDid you ever think youâd be paying this much for a gallon of gas?â Biden asked. âIn some parts of California theyâre paying four dollars and fifty cents a gallon!â
This is not the Biden Administration, itâs the Bystander Administration, where Joe is just commenting while things happen around him. Donât look at him doing everything to attack our energy position while begging other countries on bended knee to pump more oil. Thatâs apparently okay if they pump more oil, even as he attacks our fossil fuel production. It isnât his responsibility and he has no immediate solutions to the problems of the rising gas prices as both the White House explained. Indeed, his Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm laughed when asked about the rising prices.
In his remarks on Wednesday at the port of Baltimore, Biden repeated another theme of his that we reported about before â that Americans are confused and just donât understand whatâs going on with the supply chain crisis and reporters werenât doing a good job of explaining it. What was his earth-shattering explanation?
âYou hear a lot about the supply chains in the news, but frankly, not a lot of people have a clear understanding, whether they have a Ph.D. or they didnât go to school, about how a supply chain works,â the president said.
âIn simple terms, supply chain is just the journey that a product takes to get to your doorstep,â he said.
Arenât you incredibly enlightened now with that heady explanation from Professor Biden?
Iâm thinking the problem isnât the American people but Joeâs lack of understanding which is why we get this severely lacking response.
He also accidentally admitted that the stimulus checks he sent out may have contributed to the problem.
âThe irony is people have more money now because of the first major piece of legislation I passed.
âYou all got checks for $1,400. You got checks for a whole range of things,â Biden said, referencing his COVID relief checks sent out in April.
âIf youâre a mom and you have kids under the age of 7, you get $300 a month and if itâs over 7 to 17, youâre getting $360 a month,â he said, misstating the second amount, which is $250 per month.
âIt changes peopleâs lives. But what happens if thereâs nothing to buy and you got more money to compete for getting [goods]? It creates a real problem.â
âOn the one hand, weâre facing new disruptions to our supplies. At the same time, weâre also experiencing higher demand for goods because wages are up as well as people have money in the bank. And because of the strength of our economic recovery, American families have been able to buy more products.â

But the claim about wages is misleading â because of inflation, Americansâ buying power is less. As we reported yesterday, prices rose 6.2 percent in October compared with a year ago, the largest annual increase in 30 years.
Unfortunately, Bidenâs only response seems to be to talk a lot, blame Americans and claim they donât understand. But they sent him a big message with the elections last Tuesday that they did understand and they do know where the fault lies. Expect an even bigger message in a year if he continues on this path.
