Trump hits back at ‘weak and ineffective’ Bill Barr after former AG said president was ‘responsible’ for January 6 and had a ‘clown show’ of lawyers to try and overturn the election
- Donald Trump on Friday described his former attorney general Bill Barr as ‘weak, ineffective, and totally scared of being impeached’
- Barr angered the former president by telling NBC he thinks Trump was ‘responsible’ for the January 6 Capitol attack
- Barr also slammed Trump’s ‘clown show’ of lawyers, in a new clip of Lester Holt’s interview that was aired Friday morning
- ‘I do think he was responsible in the broad sense of that word,’ Barr said of January 6. ‘It appears that part of the plan was to send this group up to the Hill’
- ‘I think the whole idea was to intimidate Congress and I think that that was wrong,’ Barr added
- Barr also revealed that he ridiculed Trump’s legal team during the same heated meeting where he offered up his resignation
- ‘I said the reason you are where you are is because you wheeled out a clown show of lawyers,’ Barr said he told Trump
- Barr affirmed he was speaking about former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and others, calling them Trump’s ‘crackerjack legal team’
