- Graham tore into Greene for her defense of Pentagon leaker
- ‘For any member of Congress to suggest it’s OK to leak classified information because you agree with the cause is terribly irresponsible,’ he told ABC News
- Senator Graham, who served in National Guard, questioned how Jack Teixeira had access to such sensitive information
Senator Lindsey Graham slammed his fellow Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene on Sunday for defending the man who leaked intelligence secrets on to the internet, calling it ‘terribly irresponsible.’
He said Greene and others who defended Jack Teixeira were ‘that it’s OK to release classified information based on your political views. That the ends justify the means. It is not OK.’
‘It’s one of the most irresponsible statements you could make,’ he said on ABC’s This Week. ‘The way we gather intelligence protects our country. There are military members serving today from Georgia and other places who are less safe because of what this airman did.’
‘There is no justification for this. And for any member of Congress to suggest it’s OK to leak classified information because you agree with the cause is terrible irresponsible and puts America in serious danger.’
‘Jake Teixeira is white, male, Christian, and antiwar,’ Greene wrote on Twitter, spelling his first name incorrectly. ‘That makes him an enemy to the Biden regime.’
‘He told the truth about troops being on the ground in Ukraine and a lot more,’ the she added. ‘Ask yourself who is the real enemy?’
Greene has long opposed the United States assisting the war in the Ukraine. Her comments came as Teixeira appeared in court in Boston, Massachusetts to face two charges of leaking classified information.
Lindsey Graham, a longtime Republican senator from South Carolina who also served in the National Guard, said he is confounded by how Teixeira had access to such sensitive information.
‘I was a captain and major. I would be surprised if I had that kind of information,’ he told ABC News.
‘I don’t know what led to this airman’s actions, but he’s done a lot of damage to our standing,’ he added. ‘And I am stunned that somebody at that level could have so much access.’
‘So, the question is, how did he get it and why did he do it. And we – some people need to be fired over this.’
