Ex-President says Governor is being ‘destroyed’ and Magic Kingdom will start ‘moving money out’ in a ‘killer’ for his state
- Donald Trump took Disney World’s side in the company’s war with Ron DeSantis
- He suggested that the company could move out Florida amid the conflict
- Walt Disney Co. is a massive donor to pro-Trump America First Action
Donald Trump has urged Disney to leave Florida in a move that would be a financial ‘killer’ for Ron DeSantis.
The former president said the Florida Governor and potential 2024 presidential rival is being ‘destroyed’ by the Magic Kingdom and claimed his ‘original P.R. plan fizzled’.
He said the corporation could start selling properties and moving money out of the state in the feud over who has control over the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
Meanwhile, Walt Disney Co. donated a whopping $10.5 million to Trump’s America First Action in the 2020 election cycle, according to Open Secrets.
In the most recent escalation in the war with Disney, DeSantis threatened to build a prison next to the theme park as payback.
He also said the Republican-controlled Florida state legislature will void Disney’s legal maneuvering that effectively stripped his new oversight board of authority over the company.
DeSantis has warned he will announce further crackdowns next week Reedy Creek, the district that had tax exemptions and ran itself for decades.
DeSantis has not yet announced a plan to run for president in 2024, but amid rumors he is considering a run, the popular GOP governor has become the only potential challenger that could face-off with Trump.
He is also touring the country, fueling more speculation that an announcement of a bid is impending.
DeSantis is going to Washington, D.C. this week to speak at the Heritage Foundation’s Leadership Summit and will make two different stops in early primary contest state of South Carolina on Wednesday.
Trump’s latest attack came after another Florida lawmaker issued his endorsement for the former president’s third consecutive White House bid.
Rep. Greg Steube endorsed Trump in an interview Monday evening with Newsmax. He claimed another four years of Trump would help rectify the ‘disastrous policies of the Biden administration.’
Now a Florida resident, Trump has clinched more than a handful of endorsements from Florida’s congressional delegation.
