Trump blasts Biden DOJ’s demand for gag order to stop him from speaking against ‘conspiracy’ charges
Biden’s DOJ is afraid of what President Donald Trump will do if they don’t prevent him from speaking out against their political prosecution of him in a Washington, DC court. On Friday, they demanded that Trump not be allowed to speak publicly on the case, demanding the judge issue a protective order against Trump.
In response on Monday, Trump released a statement taking aim at DOJ special prosecutor Jack Smith, saying “Deranged Jack Smith is going before his number one draft pick, the Judge of his ‘dreams’ (WHO MUST BE RECUSED!), in an attempt to take away my FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS – This, despite the fact that he, the DOJ, and his many Thug prosecutors, are illegally leaking, everything and anything, to the Fake News Media!!!”
A follow-up statement from Trump read “No, I shouldn’t have a protective order placed on me because it would impinge on my right to FREE SPEECH. Deranged Jack Smith and the Department of Injustice should, however, because they are illegally ‘leaking’ all over the place.”
The demand for a protective order came after Trump posted to social media “If you go after me, I’m coming after you,” which the Department of Justice, which is prosecuting Trump in two cases, took as a direct threat against them. In response, they asked Judge Chutkan, who is presiding over the DC case, to prevent Trump from speaking publicly on the charges against him.
One thing that concerns the DOJ is that Trump might go public with pre-trial evidence the DOJ is using to target Trump. The DOJ doesn’t want that evidence to be revealed to the public, perhaps fearing that the public reaction to it could damage their case.
Trump has been charged with four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstriction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. The Department of Justice alleges that Trump attempted to overthrow the election results of the 2020 election.
Trump contends that the 2020 election saw a Biden win only because unlawful means were used to subvert the election process. Trump further contends that the prosecution against him going into the 2024 election is, essentially, election interference by a Biden regime that is trying to prevent him from running, and winning, a second term in office.
As such, were the judge to prevent Trump from speaking on the case, while allowing the DOJ to continue their leaks to media about Trump’s prosecution, Trump could easily claim that the Biden administration and campaign are weaponizing a protective order to prevent him from defending himself in the court of public opinion while they use the case as campaign fodder.
