- Trump swept all four early primary voting states for 2024
South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham was greeted with boos after former President Trump gave him a shoutout during his victory speech upon winning the South Carolina Republican Primary.
Graham has been a longtime supporter of the former president as he seeks a second term in the White House, but the the rowdy crowd was not a fan to Graham as Trump called him ‘a little bit further left than some of the people on this stage.’
Trump urged the senator to join him joking the senator didn’t want to be noticed as the former president’s fans jeered.
‘I love him. He’s a good man,’ Trump pushed back.
‘The nightmare you’re facing is just about over. Help is on the way. This is the most qualified man to be President of the United States,’ Graham said to the crowd and they slowly moved to cheering.
Donald Trump took the stage right away to speak after running away with a victory in South Carolina on Saturday night with a win that gives him a straight sweep of the four early primary contests in the Republican presidential primary.
‘This was a little sooner than we anticipated,’ Trump joked to a crowd of cheering supporters.
Not even a minute after polls closed at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, the race was called for Trump in an embarrassing defeat of Nikki Haley.
Trump’s victory builds on the surging momentum he has built coming out of wins in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.
Haley’s loss on Saturday marks the first time a Republican candidate has lost their home state primary election in more than 50 years. The previous was Richard Nixon, who lost California‘s primary to Ronald Reagan – who was also from California.
