Israel has declared a state of war after a fierce rocket attack from the blockaded Gaza strip. Israelis woke up this morning – a festive holiday – to loud sirens and Hamas firing rockets, said the country’s defence forces after alerting an alleged an infiltration by Hamas militants.

Israel regards Hamas as a terror group.

Thousands of rockets have been fired from Gaza over two hours, tearing through the sky towards Israel, marking yet another big escalation in geopolitics in recent years.

Sirens are blazing in the holy city of Jerusalem and across Israel as multiple points of impact have been reported across the country.

Paragliders too have been used in the attack, showed visuals from Israel.

“A number of terrorists have infiltrated into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Residents in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip have been asked to stay in their homes,” the Israel Defence Forces said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
