A group of unlawful migrants that Ron DeSantis sent to Martha’s vineyard are suing the Florida governor for allegedly exploiting them.
The plaintiffs allege the governor trapped them in a ‘premeditated, fraudulent, and illegal scheme centered on exploiting [the migrants] for the sole purpose of advancing their own personal, financial and political interests.’
DeSantis arranged for 50 migrants to be flown out to Martha’s Vineyard, a wealthy island off Massachusetts last week, in a move that set off a firestorm in the political war over immigration.
The four plaintiffs said in a court filing they fled crime-riddled Venezuela and upon crossing the border immediately surrendered themselves to immigration authorities. They said they have been authorized to remain in the U.S. until their court proceedings.
The migrants claim that those working on DeSantis’ scheme trolled outside of immigration shelters in Texas ‘pretending to be good Samaritans and offering humanitarian assistance.’
