Bat out of well(ness).
Howard Stern wants Meat Loafâs family to speak out about COVID-19 vaccines â and believes the late singer got sucked into a âcult.â
The âBat Out of Hellâ singer died earlier this month at 74, reportedly of COVID-19. The late rocker had been vigorously opposed to masking and vaccine mandates.
In a recent interview last summer, Meat Loaf griped that masks are âuseless. They donât do anything. They donât stop you from getting COVID. Theyâre just a nuisance and make your nose itch and make it so you canât breathe.â
He added, âIf I die, I die, but Iâm not going to be controlled.â
Speaking out about the performerâs death, Stern, 68, railed: âPoor Meat Loaf got sucked into some weird fâking cult. And somehow really believed that â he made a statement, âIâd rather die a free man than take that vaccine.â And now heâs dead!â reports Uproxx.
âI wish the family would come forward and say, âYa know, when Meat Loaf was laying there in the hospital and he couldnât breathe, he said, âI made a mistake,’â he continued.
ââI should have taken the vaccine.â Like all these anti-vaxxers, they all say, âI made a mistake.’â
The widow of Meat Loaf (nĂ© Marvin Lee Aday), Deborah Gillespie, issued a statement following his passing writing, âThe grief I feel over the loss of my husband is gut-wrenching.â However, she didnât specify how her husband of nearly 15 years died.
This isnât the first time the self-proclaimed âKing of All Mediaâ has bashed anti-vaxxers.
Earlier this month, he went on a tirade about controversial tennis champ Novak Djokovic, who was thrown out of Australia after petitioning for an exemption to the countryâs vaccination requirement for noncitizens.
âThat fâk-nut ⊠Djokovic. The Joker, I call him the Joker,â the shock jock fumed. âWhat a fâking aâhole.â
He continued, âThe first Iâve heard of this guy is that he doesnât want to get his vaccine and heâs running around ⊠they should throw him right the fâk out of tennis.â
Stern was also critical of several radio hosts who have died of COVID-19 after waging campaigns against them.
âWhen are we going to stop putting up with the idiots in this country and just say, you know, âItâs mandatory to get vaccinatedâ?â Stern ranted on an episode of his Sirius XM show last September.
âFâk them, fâk their freedom. I want my freedom to live. I want to get out of the house already. I want to go next door and play chess. I want to go take some pictures.â
