McConnell said in Fox News interview that the 2024 Republican primary “should be a wide-open race,” stating there are “at least four” Senate Republicans he thinks will mount presidential bids.
But asked by host Bret Baier if he would support Trump if he is the Republican nominee, McConnell responded, “the nominee of the party? Absolutely.”
The comment comes just weeks after McConnell said Trump was “practically and morally responsible” for the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and could face prosecution for his role.
