There is a crisis at the border. There is a crisis in Cuba. The Democrats and their allies in the media would very much like for you to ignore both.

You may not like or agree with Donald Trump’s plans for the border when he was President, but he had one. His administration was trying to do something. We know this, because the media would not stop reporting on it. Over and over, we got nothing but stories about how awful it was that the Trump administration was stopping asylum seekers from coming to the United States.

The southern border is in shambles right now as immigrants flood the border, making it difficult to tell the honest asylum seekers and true immigrants from those with nefarious intent. Eliminating that was the Trump administration’s goal, and they were attacked for it.

The Biden administration, meanwhile, wants you to know that the Trump days are long gone, and it’s a new era. They sought to undo a lot of those plans and, as a result, the border is a crisis zone with no real solution in sight. Nothing else has really changed all that much, but they want the appearance of change, and just that appearance of change has encouraged more immigrants to flee to our borders from Mexico.

The Democrats and their media allies made it a deliberate point to talk about how inhumane it was to deny asylum seekers from entering our country. They wanted everyone to know such a thing made Trump a vile, xenophobic racist.

And then, on Tuesday evening, we get word that the Biden administration has decided they will turn away Cuban refugees.

People fleeing Cuba and Haiti by boat will not be allowed to enter the U.S., even if they demonstrate fear of being persecuted or tortured in their home countries, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned on Tuesday.

“Allow me to be clear: if you take to the sea, you will not come to the United States,” Mayorkas said, highlighting the dangers of traversing the Caribbean Sea and the Florida Straits by boat.

And you know what? That’s actually not a bad policy. In the wake of the violence now happening in Cuba, it is a wise idea to not let just anyone in. You don’t know who is legitimate and who has a nefarious purpose. So, do what you can to keep American soil safe. Perfectly reasonable, right?

Except, that was pretty much the stated goal of the Trump administration’s plans at the southern border. Stop the influx of really untraceable immigrants, some of whom could have ulterior motives. Yes, even terrorists trying to slip in through the border.

But, our supposed betters told us this was evil and racist and a denial of basic human rights to those seeking asylum. Here, we have a crisis in Cuba, where the government is literally sending agents of the state out to beat and arrest protestors, and those who escape will be denied access to American soil by the very administration that promised to do away with such things.

Looking at Twitter, there is a very noticeable lack of Democrats and media figures hand-wringing over this violation of human rights they claim denying asylum is. They spent four years lecturing us and now turn away from the Biden administration doing the same thing simply because they are fine with the oppressive Communist regime of Cuba.
