Conservatives online have been quick to call out this lunacy, stating that China is by no means a democracy, but instead a communist dictatorship.
Ironically, Pelosi cited DC non-profit Freedom House which does not list China as a free country. Calling its government an “authoritarian regime” that has “become increasingly repressive in recent years.”

“The ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) continues to tighten control over all aspects of life and governance, including the state bureaucracy, the media, online speech, religious practice, universities, businesses, and civil society associations, and it has undermined an earlier series of modest rule-of-law reforms. The CCP leader and state president, Xi Jinping, has consolidated personal power to a degree not seen in China for decades.”
Donald Trump Jr. also joined in on Twitter to call out Pelosi for her inaccurate comments, writing, “Pelosi thinks that the Communist Dictatorship in China is ‘one of the freest societies in the world,’ which may explain why the Democrats are now emulating the same authoritarian tactics here at home, that the Chinese Communist Party uses against their political opposition!”
Of course, Trump Jr. is referring to the FBI’s raid of his father’s Mar-A-Lago home on Monday.
Pelosi, in response to GOP criticism surrounding the “political persecution” of former President Trump, defended the FBI by saying “no person is above the law — not even the President of the United States, not even a former President of the United States.”
It’s worth noting that as new information emerges, reports are beginning to show that the judge who signed the Mar-A-Lago raid warrant was an Obama appointee who defended Jeffery Epstein associates as their lawyer.
