NBC and Fox News have called the Pennsylvania Senate race for Democrat John Fetterman early Wednesday.
Fetterman had raked in about 71,925 more votes than Republican candidate and celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz as of 12:55 a.m. Wednesday, with more than 85% of votes in, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State.
The Democrat said “it’s official” that he will be the newest Senator for Pennsylvania in a tweet just before 1 a.m. Wednesday
“We bet on the people of Pennsylvania – and you didn’t let us down,” Fetterman said. “And I won’t let you down. Thank you.”
NBC first race called the race just minutes after Oz told an enthusiastic crowd at his election watch party that he believed he would win the race “when all the ballots are counted.”
“We’ve been closing the gap all night and we have a lot more ballots to go,” he said. “… Tonight you told me that you believe in me. Bless you for that.”
