Gotta love the âRules for thee, but not for meâ crowd.
How many times with Democrats have we seen them pushing for mandates or restrictions in regard to COVID and then disregarding those very same rules themselves? Sometimes within the same day â as with Joe Biden who signed a mask mandate for federal property and then immediately broke it, as did members of his family.
Joe Biden came out with his new dictatorial vaccine mandates on Thursday â executive orders requiring federal employees and federal contractors to be vaccinated and requiring that private businesses with over 100 employees to ensure their employees are vaccinated or tested on a weekly basis. Democratic politicians immediately embraced these edicts, even without knowing what they would say.
But in a move that should not be surprising to us, after all the hypocritical nonsense they have shoved at us, while Bidenâs order applies to the folks in the executive branch, it doesnât apply to the legislative or the judicial branch. Members of Congress and their staff do not have to comply with the mandates. So, 100 million Americans may have to deal with it but they donât. But of course, theyâre perfectly willing to impose it on you â just not themselves.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said at a press conference on April 29 that the House couldnât require members to be vaccinated. Video clips of those remarks gained renewed attention online following Bidenâs announcement.
âSoâso here is the thing. We areâwe cannot require someone to be vaccinated. Thatâs just not what we can do. It is a matter of privacy to know who is or who isnât,â Pelosi said.
âI canât go to the Capitol Physician and say, âGive me the names of people who arenât vaccinated, so I can go encourage them or make it known to others to encourage them to be vaccinated.â So we canâtâwe canât do that,â she said.
Pelosiâs office reiterated that position in a statement to Newsweek on Friday, saying the speakerâs April 29 remarks were âreferring to the institution in which she serves.â
âSheâs saying she cannot force Members to be vaccinated, which is true,â the statement said.
Oh. So, members of Congress have privacy rights, but regular Americans donât? Because thatâs surely what it sounds like, thatâs effectively what Pelosi is saying by this. How hypocritical can they get with stuff like this?
Up until July, the Biden bunch had held to the âprivacy rightsâ view and said they couldnât impose mandates. Suddenly, when Bidenâs poll numbers dive into the cellar and he needs to appear to be doing something, thatâs changed. Suddenly, you have no privacy rights anymore. If he thinks that that will improve the poll numbers, though, heâs got another thing coming. He already had poll numbers in the 30s for approval. He may find out what itâs like to have numbers in the 20s soon.
