President-elect Donald Trump released his official inaugural portrait Thursday with a villain-esque facial expression that drew comparisons to his 2023 mugshot.
The portrait features the soon-to-be commander-in-chief staring into the camera with an icy look and a furrowed brow.
“They go hard,” the Trump transition team said in an email releasing the photo along with a portrait of vice president-elect JD Vance
The intense pose, which features Trump leaning slightly forward, quickly drew comparisons to his hush money case mug shot.
“Mugshot chic,” tweeted one X user.
“He has the Godfather look,” a second observer quipped, while others called his expression “cold af” and quipped, “bro is not joking.”
Others compared him to “badass” media personalities.

“This gives me stone cold Steve Austin vibes,” one commenter posted, referencing the ruthless former pro-wrestler.
“The names Bond…” another added.
By contrast, Trump’s 2016 presidential portrait shows him smiling warmly in front of an American flag.
Vance also released a portrait of himself in a blue suit and blue tie with a subtle grin and his arms folded across his chest.
Trump and Vance will be sworn into office on Monday.
